SeaMAC launches new ad campaign on King County Metro buses
Despite recent censorship and unequal treatment by King County, Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign (SeaMAC) has launched new ads on King County Metro buses calling for Palestinian refugees to be allowed to return and share their historic homeland.
With a photo of a local family that includes Palestinian refugees, the ads have the slogan “SHARE THE LAND. PALESTINIAN REFUGEES HAVE THE RIGHT TO RETURN. EQUAL RIGHTS FOR PALESTINIANS.” The ads will will run on twelve buses for four weeks. Photo available on request.
“This is a continuation of our Equal Rights campaign,” says SeaMAC’s Edward Mast. “Jews from anywhere in the world are allowed to become instant citizens of Israel, but many Palestinians who were born there are not allowed to return. This is one of many ways that Palestinians do not have equal rights in Israel.”
Over one million Palestinians were driven out of what is now Israel in 1948 and 1967. Israel has prevented the great majority of them from returning to their homeland. Palestinian refugees now number several million and are one of the largest and longest-suffering refugee populations in the world.
The issue of Palestinian refugees has become more urgent as Israel prepares to destroy dozens of villages and expel 40,000 Bedouins from their homes in southern Israel. Meanwhile, in the current round of negotiations, the Palestinian National Authority seems ready to sign away the right of Palestinian refugees to return home. “Instead of representing the Palestinian people, the Palestinian Authority is merely subcontracting from Israel the ongoing violations of our legal and human rights,” says Professor Nada Elia of Antioch University - Seattle. “They have no right to negotiate away one of our inalienable human rights, the Right of Return.”
Over the past two years, some Palestinians inside Israel have tried to re-establish the Right of Return by mounting new nonviolent campaigns, such as re-inhabiting the destroyed village of Iqrit and other Palestinian villages that were destroyed.
“The State of Israel refuses to admit its responsibility for driving out the Palestinians to become refugees in the first place, and also refuses to admit the legal right of Palestinians refugees to return,” says SeaMAC board member Ruth McRee. “The US has made the situation worse by allowing the issue of refugees to be left out of the US-sponsored peace negotiations. No sustainable peace will be possible without addressing the issue of Palestinian refugees.”
In December 2010, King County Metro accepted and then censored a SeaMAC ad which called attention to Israeli war crimes committed against Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s Operation Cast Lead in 2008-2009, despite the fact that these crimes were documented by the United Nations Human Rights Commission, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Red Cross. ACLU is representing SeaMAC in a lawsuit against King County for that 2010 rejection. The parties are currently awaiting an opinion from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in that matter.
King County Metro more recently ran an ad from the American Freedom Defense Initiative that made false accusations against Palestinians. King County later rejected another ad from SeaMAC , even though SeaMAC provided supporting documentation from the United Nations, Human Rights Watch, and Israeli human rights group B’Tselem.
The Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign is incorporated as a non-profit corporation in Washington State and as a 501 (c)(3) organization under Federal tax code.

The name Allah
(God) in Islam is the personal name of God. The most concise definition of God
in Islam is given in four verses in the Holy Qur’an:
“Say, He is
Allah, [Who is] One,
Allah, the Eternal Refuge,
He neither begets nor is begotten,
There is none like unto Him.”
(Holy Qur’an 112: 1-4)

To Muslims, this
four-line definition of Almighty God serves as the touchstone of the study of
God. Any candidate to divinity must be subjected to this ‘acid test’ and since
the attributes of The Creator given in this chapter are unique, false gods and
pretenders to divinity can be easily dismissed using these verses.
i) The first criterion is «”Say,
He is Allah, one and only”».
Can there be
more than one god? This verse tells us that The Creator is the only one who has
total and absolute power, unique in His names and attributes.
ii) The second criterion is, «’Allah is absolute and
eternal’».
The word that
is translated as “The Eternal, Absolute” from Arabic is something that can be
attributed only to The Creator as all the other existent beings temporal or
conditional? It also means that Allah is not dependant on any person or thing,
but all persons and things are dependant on Him.
iii) The third criterion
is «‘He begets not, nor is He begotten’».
This means God
was not born, nor does He give birth and share his divinity with others. Nor
does He have a family or relationship with another being.
iv) The fourth test – which is
the most stringent – is, «”There is none like unto Him”».
The moment you
can imagine or compare ‘God’ to anything, then he (the candidate to divinity)
is not God. It is not possible to conjure up a mental picture of the One True
God because of the simple fact, as creation, we only know creation.
The Muslims
prefer calling the Supreme Creator, ‘Allah’, instead of the English word ‘God’.
The Arabic word, ‘Allah’, is pure and unique, unlike the English word ‘God’,
which can be played around with. For example, If you add ‘s’ to the word God,
it becomes ‘Gods’, that is the plural of God. Allah is one and singular, there
is no plural of Allah. If you add the word ‘father’ to ‘God’ it becomes
‘God-father’. God-father means someone who is a guardian. There is no word like
‘Allah-father’. If you add the word ‘mother’ to ‘God’, it becomes ‘God-mother’.
There is nothing like ‘Allah-mother’ in Islam. Allah is a unique word, which
does not conjure up any mental picture nor can it be played around with.
Therefore, the Muslims prefer using the Arabic word ‘Allah’ for the Almighty.
Faith in Allah incorporates Tawheed in three areas:
His Lordship
(Rububiyyah),His Worship (Uluhiyyah),
His Names and Attribute (Asma’Was Sifat).
Tawheed in this contex is the conviction that
Allah alone possesses the Qualities of Lord,God,
The attributes of perfection and the names of Glory.
He is the God of all things and that there is no god
But Him.He is perfect in His names and attributes,
And that none but He is perfect.
He is above any fault or deficience.
Islam is the most civilized way of life,
and any individual can practice universally.
It is natural, acceptable by
who study with
an open mind and clear heart.
It is a religion of Adam,
Abraham, Musa, Jesus and Muhammad

Ibn Al-Qayyim described Allah's Greatness, saying,
He governs the affairs of the various kingdoms and He commands and forbids, creates, sustains, gives death, gives life, gives power, strips power (to and from whom He wills) and alternates the night and day. He gives varying fortunes to people and alternates governments (and states), destroying some and bringing some into existence. His Command and Power are dominant in the heavens and their zones, the earth and all that which is on and in it, in the seas and in the air. His Knowledge has encompassed everything and He counted everything. He hears all types of voices and they do not confuse Him. Rather, He hears each voice in its distinct language and need, and no voice will make Him busy from fulfilling the need of another, and no need will ever escape His Perfect Knowledge (and His Power to deliver). He does not become bored because of the many needs of those who need. His Sight encompasses all that which there is. He sees the movement of a black ant on a barren rock during a dark night. To Him, the Unseen is uncovered end the secret is secret no more, "Whosoever is in the heavens and on Earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring Forth (such as giving honor to some, disgrace to some, life to (some, death to some, etc.)." [55:29] He forgives an evil deed, makes depression vanish and brings reprieve from disasters, relief for whoever needs it, wealth for the poor, guidance for the misguided, light for the lost, help for he who is desperate, fullness for the hungry, cover for the barely clothed, cure for the ill and ease for he who suffers. He accepts he who repents, gives reward for he who does good, gives aid for he who was dealt with injustice, destroys an arrogant person, covers mistakes, gives safety after fear end elevates some people and humiliates others. If those who inhabit His heavens and His earth and all those whom He created, whether mankind or the Jinns, had hearts similar to the most pious heart, His Kingdom will not increase. If all His creation, whether mankind or the Jinns, had hearts similar to the heart of the most wicked heart, this will not decrease from His Kingdom. Also, if all those who inhabit His heavens and His earth, all mankind and all the Jinns, the dead and the living, stand up on one strip of land and each asks Him for his need, and He then fulfils their needs, this will not decrease from what He has a bit. He is the First, nothing is before Him, the Last, nothing is after Him, the Most High, nothing is above Him, and the Most Near, nothing is nearer than Him. He, Exalted and Ever High as He is, is the Best Whom one can and should remember, the only One Who deserves to be worshiped and thanked, the Kindest of all those who own and the Most generous of all those who are asked to give. He is the King Who has no partner, the One Who has no competitor, the Samad (Self-Sufficient) Who has no offspring, and the Ever High, none like unto Him. Everything perishes save His Face and every kingship is bound to perish except His. He will only be obeyed by His Leave, and His Knowledge uncovers all disobedience to Him. When He is obeyed, He thanks for it, and when He is disobeyed, He grants forgiveness (for those who truly repent to Him). Every punishment from Him is just and every bounty is a grace. He is the Closest Witness and the Nearest One with His Perfect Care. He controls the forelocks of everything and has the full records of all deeds end the books of all ages. The hearts are unmasked to Him and the secret is unveiled. His giving and punishing is merely a Command, "Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, ‘Be, and it is!’" [36:82].
